Getting started

Everything you need before leaving spawn.

01

Connect

Open Minecraft Java Edition → Multiplayer → Add Server.

02

Server address

Enter playrift.net and join.

03

Open the Nexus

Use /rift for Rift MC’s in-game menu.

04

Head out

Use /rtp to reach the wilderness. Return with /hub.

SERVER IPplayrift.net
02 / LAND

Open Parties and Claims

Use claims to protect the land you build on.

Player protection uses Open Parties and Claims.

Claims cover Minecraft chunks (16 × 16 blocks). Flan is not available for normal player claiming.

01

Find a spot

Leave spawn with /rtp and find unclaimed land.

02

Open claim controls

Use /oclaims or the mod’s UI if you have its compatible client mod.

03

Claim chunks

Select the chunks you want. Each chunk is 16 × 16 blocks.

04

Set access

Use the party and claim options to manage who can build or interact.

Claim limits, permissions, and exact menu controls depend on Rift MC’s current server configuration. If /oclaims differs in-game, check command suggestions or ask staff.

03 / GROUPS

Parties & teams

The server has more than one team-related system.

OPEN PARTIES AND CLAIMS

Claim access

Manage parties and trusted players for your claimed land. Start with /oparties.

RIFT TEAMS

Team system

Separate Rift MC team features. A scoreboard or social team does not automatically grant claim access.

Party memberships and land permissions are separate from LuckPerms ranks. Check your claim permissions before sharing a base.

04 / GENERATION

World & structures

Explore altered terrain, ruins, fortresses, and dungeons.

Overworld

Tectonic changes terrain. WWOO expands biomes. Dungeons and Taverns and the DnT overhauls change structures such as ancient cities and mansions.

Nether

Incendium Legacy reshapes the Nether. Rift’s Nether vault and chest mods add custom loot systems; the Nether fortress overhaul changes fortresses.

End

Stellarity changes the End. Access to dimensions may be restricted by the server’s Disable Dimensions settings.

Generation affects newly created areas. Some structures, loot, and dimensions can be limited by server configuration.

05 / TRADING

Economy & shops

Two ways to trade: server economy and player shops.

ECONOMYCRAFT

Server economy

Use /eco for economy options, and /shop to open the server shop.

KETKET’S PLAYER SHOPS

Player-run shops

Trade items directly with other players using shopcases. The usual recipe is a chest and emerald, if enabled.

About shops

Shop prices, available items, and shopcase recipes are controlled in-game and can change.

06 / SURVIVAL

Combat & death

Griefing, raiding, and PvP are allowed. Cheating and harassment are not.

PVP

Fights are allowed

PvP and raiding are part of the SMP. Fair Fight helps stop combat logging.

ITEMS

Death is not always safe

Rift Conditional Keep Inventory uses server-defined conditions. Don’t assume you keep your items.

RECOVERY

Find your death

Death Location Bar adds a death marker. Death Backup helps staff investigate inventory loss.

LOOT

Heads & spawners

Player Drops Head and Mineable Spawner adjust drops and block behavior, subject to settings.

Read PvP and griefing rules
07 / COMMUNITY

Voice & chat

Voice is optional. Text chat works without a voice mod.

SIMPLE VOICE CHAT

Proximity voice

Install a compatible Simple Voice Chat client mod to use voice. Check your keybinds and microphone settings.

CHAT & DISCORD

Stay connected

Flectone Pulse formats chat. Rift Bridge and Discord-MC-Chat connect supported messages to Discord.

09 / HELP

Common questions

Is griefing allowed?

Yes. Griefing and raiding are part of the SMP. Don’t harass players, cheat, or use exploits.

What mod handles player claims?

Open Parties and Claims. Flan is not available to normal players.

Do I need to install mods?

Rift MC is a Fabric server. Some features work entirely server-side; optional extras like proximity voice, Jade, and JEI may require compatible client mods. Check with staff before installing a client pack.

Do I keep my inventory when I die?

Not always. Rift Conditional Keep Inventory uses conditions set by the server.

Can I use the Nether and End?

Dimension access depends on current server settings. The world-generation mods do not guarantee access.

How do I get help?

Ask in Rift MC Discord.
